Morel arrived as part of a litter of 6 puppies from our private, rescue partner in the Imperial Valley. They were transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through FOCAS (Friends of County Animal Shelters.)

They were born at the rescue. Their mommy dog was adopted before the puppies were transferred to RCHS.

Morel can be mouthy (like most puppies.) His family will need to be dedicated to teaching him what is appropriate to chew…and rewarding him when he gets it right.

Being a young puppy, he will need adopters who are home much of the time.
Continue his training. This is not the time to take a break from learning.

Vaccinations are up to date. Pets adopted from RCHS are spayed or neutered before they go home.
Each pet has a REGISTERED microchip.
If their new homes are in the jurisdiction of San Diego Humane Society’s Department of Animal Services, dogs go home with a FREE one-year license.

Remember….they’re puppies! They will act like puppies and do puppy things.

I got a call from a guy who said, “My puppy cries, whines, trips, nips, jumps, pees on the carpet, and doesn’t know her name. WHAT HAVE WE GOTTEN INTO?”

That’s normal for a new puppy. Remember… it’s temporary.
Like human babies, they’re learning everyday…so it’s never too soon to teach them the rules. Start with a routine and stick to it.

Get started on the “right paw.”
*           Relax and stick to the basics. A schedule for meals, trips outside, play, and naps.
*           Socialization and exposure to noises, surfaces, and other people.
*           Teach the kids how to handle the puppy and supervise them.
*           Older kids can help with the leash, training, and tricks.

Some “Don’ts.”
*           No dragging by the leg, the collar, or a leash.
*           No feeding from the table.
*           No spanking.

Adoption fees:  $245 for puppies under 6 months.
$145 for adult dogs older than 6 months.
$75 for senior dogs more than 7 years old.
