Malacandra
2-1/2-year-old
71-pound
Female
Husky Mix

She was at one of our crowded rescue partners in Orange County. She was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through Friends of County Animal Shelters (FOCAS).

Huskies are everywhere. thanks to the “Direwolves” on Game of Thrones. They used Northern Inuit Dogs and Alaskan Malamutes.
People bought Malamutes and Huskies, thinking they were like the dogs on the show, and just sit quietly beside the “thrones’ in their living rooms.

Then they discovered they bought a working dog bred to be a companion, and also to pull sleds long distances through snow and cold weather.
They do love a nap on the couch….but that’s after you take them out for exercise….physical and mental.
Malacandra is super friendly. She was adopted, then returned after 10 days when the family realized they had an active dog who had a lot more energy than they did. She LOVES water.
She’s afraid of vacuum cleaners.
She really is fine with every person she meets.
They family called her “Friendly, hyper, playful and vocal.”

The $145 adoption fee for Malacandra includes medical exam, spay, up to date vaccinations, registered microchip, and a one-year license if her new home is in the jurisdiction of San Diego Humane Society.
